Rooftop yoga overlooking the pyramids is ethereal. Best described by the pictures I took but haven't sent to America yet!
Riding a camel today was like really living parts of star wars (for real)! These camels saunter slowly and lightly across desert sand littered with trash. My camel was sweet up until it started biting the camel in front of it. My camel then proceeded to turn quickly in circles (Sufi dancing anyone?) that I had to hold on so tight with my legs, so that I didn't get thrown off. Happy for strong yoga legs. Happy that the caravan man let me off the camel and untied it from the first one because my camel started to behave itself again. (i think it was tied to close to the first one)! So i got back on the camel and I continued to saunter with my camel to the pyramids !!! The pyramids, well, I don't even know what to say about them because they are so surreal and immense, unlike anything I have ever seen or can imagine explaining ! They are a masterpiece to every mason ! They are built with rocks from 30- 100 miles away. Once Cairo used to flood 6 months out of the year while the pyramids were being built! Huge ships were built during that time.
The pyramids are directly on the westerly outskirts of Cairo. There is this huge and long fence around the pyramids and of course one must pay a fee to enter past the gates . Pictures may tell a story about the pyramids but the immensity of them really boggles the mind: Mysterious? Scientific? Ancient people from the stars? How did these boulders stack so perfectly? There are still many unknowns about these pyramids!
The Egyptian panhandlers! Oh they are good. So persistent and outgoing Everyone wants to meet me. " Where are you from," they ask? "want to buy this? Cheap! Really cheap!" they say. Unlike most of America you can meet so many people in one day!!! I know the panhandlers around the pyramids want to meet us to sell their goods but it's fun to laugh and joke with them anyhow! You really have to have a light attitude about it all! It's fun laughing with others!
Well... There's a lot more I could write about this day but I am still using my iPhone for messaging and its still slow! Till next time. Namaste.
